• Prostate cancer is the most common invasive cancer in men in Ireland (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer).

• Around 1 in 8 men in Ireland will be diagnosed with prostate cancer before the age of 75.

• Most have no symptoms in the early stages.

• A PSA blood test measures the level of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in your blood. It can help identify changes that may need further investigation – often before symptoms appear.

➤ Who Should Consider a PSA Test?

  • Men aged 50 and over.
  • Men aged 40+ with a family history of prostate cancer.
  • Black men or men of African/Caribbean heritage (higher risk).
  • Trans women and others with a prostate (may still be at risk).
  • Anyone experiencing or with symptoms or with concerns.
  • Younger men (18+) should be aware of prostate health especially with a family history.
